The International Social Survey Program (ISSP) is an ongoing program of crossnational collaboration. Formed in 1983, the group develops topical modules dealing with important areas of social science as supplements to regular national surveys. This collection,the fourth module on role of government contains data from Australia, Argentina, Canada, Chile, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Dominican Republic, Finland, France, Germany, Great Britain, Hungary, Ireland, Israel, Japan, Latvia, Netherlands, New Zealand, Northern Ireland, Norway, Philippines, Portugal, Poland, Russia, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, United States, Uruguay, Venezuela. Questions asked of respondents focused mainly with attitudes toward government responsibilities and government spending, state intervention in the economy, civil liberties, political interest, trust and efficacy. Demographic data on respondents such as age, sex, employment, marital status, education, religion, political affiliation and household composition are also provided.
