The International Terrorism: Attributes of Terrorist Events (ITERATE) provides a wealth of information for those who wish to analyze international terrorism beyond selective or anecdotal references. The project quantifies data on the characteristics of transnational terrorist groups, their activities that carry international impact and the environment in which they operate. The ITERATE dataset is the most comprehensive and frequently-cited publicly-available dataset on transnational terrorism.

The Common File, includes information on the type of attack, the location of the beginning and end of the incident, the name of the terrorist group involved, and the numbers of deaths and injuries. The Hostage and Fate Files, provide more detailed information on the characteristics and fates of both the hostages and the terrorists. The Skyjack File consists of data on skyjacking incidents.

CAVEAT! Edward Mickolus, the compiler of DOTS, cautions, "Listing does not mean that the individual is a terrorist"
