Systematics of Porifera by Henry M. Reiswig

This Dataverse collection comprises digitized information compiled by Henry M. Reiswig during his 63 years examining sponge specimens. The original format is two collections of binders containing his handwritten notes and annotated taxon descriptions.

Scans of the binder contents at 600 dpi are compiled into two datasets:
  • Notes, Annotations and Imagery on Sponge Specimens
  • Systematics Compilations on Various Sponge Taxa
    •

The purpose of this collection is to preserve the legacy of Dr. Reiswig and to provide sponge researchers with insight into how he arrived at his taxonomic designations of the sponge specimens presented. The specimens examined by Dr. Reiswig herein represent a wide geographic, taxonomic, and temporal scope.
